Mallikarjuna Jyotirlinga is one of the twelve sacred Jyotirlingas of Lord Shiva and is located on the picturesque Srisailam hill in Andhra Pradesh. This temple is unique because it is one of the few places where both Shiva and Parvati are worshipped together. The temple is considered extremely holy and is an important site for Shaivites. The temple architecture reflects Vijayanagara and Chalukya styles and is situated amidst the Nallamala forest range on the banks of the Krishna River.
According to sacred accounts, Shiva and Parvati came to reside at Srisailam to console their son Kartikeya, who was upset over the marriage of his brother Ganesha. Lord Shiva manifested here as Mallikarjuna, and Parvati as Bhramaramba.
